12/19/2023 0 Comments Tau warhammer![]() That doesn't mesh with 9e, which has seen smaller boards, more terrain and better rules for combat armies (most significantly, that Fly no longer lets you fall back and shoot). ![]() Like there's this pervasive view that T'au players are some ruleslawyery win at all cost types vs for example Ork players are all a jolly fun time to be around.Īll up, 9e hasn't been kind to Tau, who want to stay at long range and shoot. Oh, there's also an additional factor that, depending on your local meta, people can be pretty salty/prejudiced against T'au players in general. So if you like the look a lot I'd say stick to it. Honestly they're also very limited and often have feelsbad gameplay even when you're doing well. It's definitely worth considering other armies because the T'au issue isn't just that they're weak. Low model count, products are easy to model and build and paint quickly, almost no "pitfalls" in list building (stuff that is too horrible to take) compared to T'au, participation and rewarding gameplay in every phase of the game (psychic, shooting, fight), and don't abuse some unfun rules combo to get from casual to the competitive level. But not all gameplay issues are power related.įor example, Grey Knights right now are an amazing beginner army. I would never recommend someone to pick up an army due to competitive viability. If you love the idea of how they play too, that's of course points in their favour.īut IMO it's not just about competitive viability. I would recommend if you love their look and lore enough, how they play doesn't matter. FtGG overwatch or overwhelming alpha strike shooting are some normal gameplay that ends up making some games less fun too. They are also either unfun for the player or the opponent or both.Įither you abuse some annoying mechanic (FoF, SP) or what you naturally do just really annoys opponents. The problem with T'au is for many many metas in the past, it's not just a matter of their competitive viability. ![]() Depending on the person, the way something plays could be more important than how it looks.
